Amspec hosts visit for Manchester University and Manchester Met Students at Lower Campfield

We are proud to share our knowledge and expertise with the next generation entering the construction industry. Recently, we hosted a group of international students from The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University at our construction site, Lower Campfield in Deansgate - offering a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application.

This visit was organised by Eamonn Canniffe, a lecturer at The University of Manchester, who reached out to his former pupil and now part-time lecturer, Andrew Bamford. Andrew, the Lead Architect for the Lower Campfield project, is guiding the regeneration of this iconic building, originally designed by architects Magnall and Littlewood in 1876.

During the visit, Andrew Bamford shared his vision for the project, he delved into the fascinating history of Lower Campfield, the intricate plans for its refurbishment and provided the students with valuable knowledge and a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in such a significant project.

Our Health & Safety and Compliance Coordinator, Michelle Aidley, and Project Manager, Carl Barber, also took the stage to share the challenges they have faced so far and are likely to come up against during the project.

The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive. They appreciated the opportunity to interact with professionals and gain insights that would undoubtedly enrich their studies.

We believe that education and industry collaboration are vital for the continued growth and innovation in construction and architecture. We are proud to have provided this opportunity for the students and look forward to hosting similar events in the future. By sharing our knowledge and experiences, we hope to inspire and equip the next generation with the skills and confidence to excel in their careers.

We extend our gratitude to Andrew Bamford (Project 3 Architects), Michelle Aidley, and Carl Barber for their invaluable contributions and to the students for their enthusiastic participation. Together, we are building a brighter future for the industry.

Thank you also to Sally and Eamonn from the University of Manchester for organising the visit.

Lastly, thank you to client Allied London for giving us the chance to work with you on this project.

Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to engage with Amspec!
