Project: Alderley Park Block 30 Breakout Areas

Alderley Park Block 30 Breakout Areas

Alderley Park is a world-leading life science innovation campus. Based in Cheshire, it has the biggest and best invested life science R&D facilities in the UK, offering laboratory and state-of-the-art office space to rent. We have completed various projects at Alderley Park including the fit out of the Mereside Campus and the Marketing Suite.

Most recently, Amspec were chosen on behalf of Bruntwood to design and refurbish the breakout areas in Block 30.

The original brief was a to design a scheme which incorporates furniture and finishes that compliment the design of the breakout area on the ground floor of the same building. Bruntwood wanted to create a variety of spaces to relax, encourage interaction & reinforce the idea of belonging to a community. Our team produced a concept, incorporating materials and loose furniture to provide a practical design with creativity at the forefront:

As the brief developed, we were also asked to design various bespoke joinery items that would be manufactured inhouse.

Recycling Station & Slatted wall:

Bruntwood are committed to building a sustainable future and always look to drive strategies which improve the green credentials in each of their developments. We were asked to create a design for a recycling station with improved efficiency. We created a model that included a full height door and castors meaning bins can be wheeled in an out of the station. This reduces the manual handling risk for the cleaning team and also makes maintenance quicker and more efficient.

The station was installed onto a matte black, stained slatted wall, to mirror the features in the other communal areas in Alderley Park.

Poseur Table

We manufactured a poseur height table with a bespoke steel framework and laminated worktop to provide space for collaborative work

Booth Seating:

We designed and installed built-in Booth seating in what was previously a small, concealed Tea Point. The bespoke booths were designed with steel frames and powder coated to match the fabric.

Block 30 – Green Wall

We installed a replica green wall to conceal access panels and services. The green wall was made using Sedum mats with added Ferns, Palm, Scindapsus and other foliage. It was supplied and installed by I Want Plants.

Thank you to Amtico, Sixteen3 and I Want Plants for their help on this project!

We were also asked by Bruntwood to design and build a Pop-Up Shop. Click the link to find out more!
