Howdens Joinery

Howdens are the UK number one supplier of kitchens, joinery and hardware. Founded in 1995, Howdens have grown from just 14 depots to more than 700 across the UK and Europe. Amspec were consulted to Design and Fit Out Howdens existing offices at their vast Runcorn production facility. This is our second major project for Howdens Joinery in the last eighteen months.

Our estimating and design team worked closely to develop the clients brief producing a competitively costed scope of works together with a detailed design. The client was kept fully informed throughout, they remained in control of their budget and were able to make changes to the project without compromising on timescale, cost or quality of finished product.

Working closely with Howdens and our chosen glazed partitioning partner – EGI (European Glass Industries) Amspec designed and developed a hybrid timber clad double glazed partition system. Solid and veneered Oak profiles were cleverly integrated with EGI`s proven and tested systems to create stunning timber framed glazed walls, to provide acoustically tested space division. We worked closely with Howdens Joinery to ensure their standard glazed timber framed doors were integrated and matched closely to the hybrid framing.

We also designed and manufactured a bespoke reception desk with LED lighting and lockable storage. Behind the desk, we designed and built a feature timber slatted wall and designed bespoke signage to display their company logo. We installed solid wood flooring to compliment the timber slatted wall and finish the reception, giving it a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Other works included; M&E, decoration and installation of energy efficient lighting along with quiet and efficient ventilation and air conditioning systems.
