As a global provider of electronic components and manufacturing services, TT Electronics have earned a earned a stellar reputation for delivering innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies for specialised markets including Medical, Aerospace & Defence and Rail. They have 24 design and manufacturing facilities across the globe and recently they appointed Amspec to refurbish an industrial unit in Rochdale for their Manchester team to move in to.
The decision by TT Electronics to relocate their facility highlights their strategic vision and commitment to optimising operations. Our experienced team at Amspec ensured it was a seamless transition, minimising operational disruptions and maximising efficiency during the relocation process. The new unit in Rochdale boasts state-of-the-art facilities, equipped with advanced technology to support TT Electronics' future growth and operational needs.
The refurbishment included a full strip out of the facility and all new ceilings, floors, doors, partition walls decoration and a mezzanine floor. Our team manufactured bespoke joinery products such as the ground floor tea point, first floor kitchen coffee stations, IPS units and bespoke planters.
We designed and manufactured an ESD assembly table which is a specialised work surface designed to control and mitigate the risk of electrostatic discharge when working with sensitive electronic components and devices. This was made using specialist laminate imported from Germany. Within the assembly table, we manufactured bespoke draws, specific to the size of TT Electronics’ tool trays.
For the reception, we designed and manufactured a bespoke slatted TV surround to display company information on four large TV screens.
We manufactured and installed 90 no. fire-rated doors ensuring they met the required safety standards and specifications. Additionally, we manufactured and installed an acoustic door for TT Electronics’ ‘Vibration Testing Room’ to ensure it effectively reduced sound transmission using special seals, gaskets, and high-performance materials.
Lastly, we designed, manufactured and installed a storage wall on each floor with integrated bin units. Having recycle bins helps keep workspaces clean and organised, reducing clutter and improving overall efficiency. It also demonstrates their commitment to improving their sustainability and reducing their own environmental footprint.
Pre Construction Service Agreement
Amspec offered TT Electronics a Pre Construction Service Agreement (PCSA) which offered the following benefits:
- Design collaboration from concept through the construction delivery.
- Early technical advice on buildability & sequencing.
- Management of specialist MEP designs to ensure TT electronics' requirements had been met.
- Early development & technical co-ordination of client supplied equipment/assets- Service requirements, detailed termination points, humidity control, thermal comfort & sustainability.
- Amspec’s management turnkey offering with compliance- Fire Strategy, Building Control, Structural details, Thermal model, Drainage assessment etc.
- Early Risk analysis & procurement strategies developed
- Amspec’s advice on quality management & correct specialist sub-contractor/supplier selection.

Initially considering a property on Kingsway Business Park, we faced numerous changes as the project progressed, ultimately deciding against that location. The main challenge of the project was the limited timeframe, combined by the imminent need to vacate our existing premises. Amspec's ability to accommodate our tight schedule was invaluable. Early on we were able to collaborate with their design team, sought guidance on buildability and received valuable recommendations for the selection of specialist sub-contractor/suppliers. Amspec facilitated the management of our specialised MEP designs, ensuring alignment with our requirements. Their early involvement in the project also had numerous cost planning and programme delivery benefits.
Right from the beginning, I was under clear instructions that we had to create something of a very high standard for both our customers and employees. Obtaining a quality facility is important in order for us to attract future talent.
